I really can’t accept what I read nowadays. I’m beginning to despise mainstream media as well as independent media. Just how “independent” are they when they write bias rubbish and racial bullshit with the main objective of separating Malaysia. Corrupt ministers saying that they are doing all these racial crap to protect “their” people and their rights of “ketuanan Melayu”

Have they ever considered that it’s not what the younger generation wants? The younger generations are more interested in Justin Bieber, SuJu and Facebook than your “ketuanan Melayu”. Most Malays are educated and exposed to foreign influences and they notice that “ketuanan Melayu” does nothing to benefit them.

This is not 10-20 years ago where the people are stupid, uneducated and dumb and listens to everything that the Government says. Malaysia needs to learn from countries like Libya, Egypt and even Thailand. When people are being oppressed for far too long without any development, there will be turmoil.

Go to the nearby mamak or hang out at Starbucks and colleges, you can see that the younger, educated generations are not interested in being racially separated. We are friends, not because you, him or she is Malay, Indian or Chinese, we are friends because we’re Malaysians, we love to eat, we understand Manglish, we love ending our sentences with Lah, we love Justin Bieber and we’re all on facebook.

The older generations are the ones saying nasty things and attempting to separate everyone with ketuanan Melayu bullshit and creating a racial divide using race and religion. What makes Malaysia unique is that we can live in peace and we are multi racial.

I’m pretty sure all Malaysians have Chinese, Indians and Malay friends. My sisters are Indian and Malay and they’re family adopted me. We get along well teasing each other about our race and religion. We’re much more liberal when it comes to religion and race.

Stop using religion to separate us. We’re not that dense. Everyone has the right to a religion and either way you see it, we’re all going to burn in some other religion’s hell. Not a single religion encourages the followers to kill, cheat and womanize, so what makes a particular religion more supreme than others?

No religion teaches its followers to rage war against other religions, that’s just their individual interpretation of the Quran and the Bible, and personally, if you do believe in “jihad” or in the Holy War, then you’re not a Christian or a Muslim.

When I was taught about Islam by my Muslim friend from Turkmenistan, Islam is a religion of peace and cleanliness. Islam is all about cleaning your body and mind and it’s a beautiful religion. The people are fair, peaceful and accepting and most of all, gentle and kind.

Christianity on the other hand taught us to be Christ-like and to show the ultimate characteristic that no man can show; Forgiveness. Besides that, most Christians I know are generous, peace loving and very kind. The followers of both religions are always praying for the world and for peace.

Buddhism and Hinduism are more of the way of life rather than a religion. They practice respect for life, love for the world and also peace. You might wonder who am I to say all of this? Well, I was the President of Buddhism Society, Committee Member of Christian Fellowship, Sister and Friend to my Muslim sisters and family member to my Indian sister.

The Chinese are so busy working hard to make money that they are not bothered with your “ketuanan Melayu”, for years, the Chinese and the Indians have been living like second class citizens because it’s an understanding that the Malays are entitled to more privileges. Yet, none of them went all Libya or Egypt on Malaysia.

I don’t normally write these kinds of political pieces for the fear of the ISA but since everyone, namely, PERKASA and Ibrahim Ali did, and they should be arrested first before me. I’m also shocked to read that many people are against 1Bumi or “Ketuanan Melayu” based on the feedback.

All these talk about Muslim women having to satisfy their husband’s lust and 1Bumi, 1 Melayu are all cheap publicity stunts. We, the younger generation are upset that the Government is more interested in 1Malaysia e-mail, 100 storey Mega tower than the development of the nation mainly in; education and health which should be given a higher priority than asking most Malaysians that already has more than 1 e-mail account to sign up for a 1Malaysia e-mail that would benefit no one.

I’m appalled by the way these people manage the taxpayer’s money. We want to see our money used for development in technology, health and education rather than building more buildings or e-mails. We want to see more community based programs than cronyism and better education and healthcare than corruption.

Stop using race and religion to separate Malaysians and I think I say this on behalf of all Malaysians that we only want to see development, not cheap publicity, corrupt politicians and more people “jumping” off MACC building. We just want peace and to put Malaysia on the map of the world for all the right reasons.

At the end of the day, don’t we all love our nasi lemak, roti canai, dhal, nasi kandar, kuey teow and Astro? Don’t we all also love using our “Lah” that only fellow Malaysians understand and other distinguishes us as Malaysians? Let’s not be 1Cina, 1Melayu, 1India, let’s be more 1Malaysia-Lah!

For those who are not quite into politics, I'm sorry. The next post will give you a glimpse of what's in my bag if you're interested. This post is merely for the purpose of illustrating and enforcing the idea of why I hate reading the newspaper and how reading the newspaper makes me mentally imbalanced.

Day 2 With A. Serena

On Sunday, we took Aunty Serena to Mid Valley. We had Din Tai Fung for breakfast with one of my besties, Adrian Ng. He's such a sweet heart because I just had so much fun disturbing him! He owes me a very nice dinner!

Anyways, Aunty Candy decided to "belanja" dinner at Eastin hotel and they are famous for the Peking Duck and we had fish, pork, tofu and noodles. Total price of dinner for me, Yan Yan, Ah Gun, Mom, Aunty Candy, Aunty Serena and Uncle Roland is 520MYR.

But it's just moderately nice. If you want something fancy schmancy, you can try:

Too bad, was super sick with super virus, unfortunately, was sneezing and feverish but since I love my aunt so much, I still spent time with her. And Padrekins is back in NY and probably has an event to attend in London. Hope he enjoys himself.

Day 1 with A. Serena!

Saturday was super, duper busy. I didn't get to spend time with her until the weekend! I really missed her. I do remeber shedding a tear or two when I left Sydney a couple of months back.

That means my stuff are back (but not all, I NEED to go back to Sydney to coolect them!) and that means, it's pay back time because she took great care of me when I was there and I she treated me like her own!

Anyways, she loves shopping, so, we took her to The Curve and 1 Utama and we just hung out, ate and had fun. After that, we had drinks at TGIF and just laughed the night away!

Stuff I Got

Got this ring from Padini, The Curve. I saw that it was 40MYR but with 50% off. Decided to get it and some stupid idiota at the cashier said that it was for members only and shit, so, I told him to show me where in the place, it mentioned that? He couldn't, so I got it for 20MYR! Lovely, right?

As I was walking past Diva, The Curve, I saw this really unique piece of work. If you haven't been to my room or read about it, you'll know that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE birds!!! I'm a cuckoo and a "bird-brain". I got this lovely for 40MYR.

Guess who was FEMALE mag/LA glow Promo winner for Jan 2011??? ME, of course! I got these 2 perfumes and each perfume comes with an accessory! LA Glow came with a cocktail ring and Blue Glow came with an anklet!

Since I could play the recorder, I decided to "invest" in an Irish Tin Whistle or a Penny whistle. I got this one from Oak and it's D. It comes in C as well, but D is technically more commonly used. Sounds really good when I play "My Heart Will Go On" using it. Lots of tutorials available on YouTube. I learnt to play the Titanic OST on

Won a 200 MYR voucher from FEMALE mag and was super stoked. Got myself a TITUS "bling-bling" watch. Fancy scmancy, no?

FINALLY Guardian called me to collect my Chip toy! You know those redemption ones? I bersusah payah got so many people to shop at Guardian and finally managed to collect 65 stickers for this toy, and they didn't have stock so I waited for 1 month or so.

I'm really blessed to be able to win contests and stuff and got loads of musical instruments that I don't play. Currently, I have 1 electric guitar, 2 acoustic guitars, 1 Ukulele, 1 Recorder, and my new toy; The Irish Tin Whistle.

I need to start playing them soon. If there's space, hope to get a drum set soon!

Ying Ning Farewell

Ying Ning is my mom's colleague and will be leaving Kiu, Teh & Partners. Everyone decided to throw her a farewell party at Nando's, TCM. There was 12 of us and we had tonnes of food.

Had a good time with the girl who was so shy towards me. She wouldn't speak to me until it was time to go home.... She's a nice girl and she will be truly missed, especially by her "pandi" Kala!

Irish Tinwhistles

It comes in a clear box but according to the professionals, it's not good because it's very unhygienic and it encourages to growth of bacteria.
My current pennywhistle; Oak. I need to tune it, once I learn it. It's out of tune and it looks kinda bad now... *sad*
This lovely pack is from CLARKE Gold Meg & Learning Book and retails at £7.50

This beautiful one is CLARKE Original and the one that I want!!! This one costs £15.99
This green one costs £9.95 and it's the CLARKE Celtic This sexy one retails at £13.50 and it's the CLARKE Victorian. All CLARKE come in a beautiful gift box! Lovely as a present to yourself or for someone! *HINT*
This costs €7.50 and it's the Feadóg Black Whistle
Would love this as a gift, the Feadóg Triple Pack (Colour/Nickel "D") is only €14.50.
This is the Feadóg Brass Whistle in the Key of "D" and it retails for €5.50
For custom orders and the most beautiful hand made whistles, you HAVE TO GO TO: Colin Goldie I would love one from him but here is the PRICELIST.

I've always wanted to play an instrument somehow and I've always thought that flutes were very sexy. But since my parents were extremely lenient when it comes to developing my "musical talents", i'm musically retarded. (I like to think that my musical talents are not yet developed!)

So, decided to start from the very bottom which is the old school Yamaha Recorder and saw the lovely looking Oak Pennywhistle and thought that, If I could play the recorder, I can attempt to play a Pennywhistle that resembles a recorder. Bear in mind that I could only play Mary Had A Little Lamb with the recorder. I bought it from Euphony Musical at Ikano (now ipc) for 50MYR.

There's not many people who plays these type of Celtic instruments hence, it's not as common as guitars or pianos. I was on MC for 1 day and it took me 4 hours to learn My Heart Will Go On. Now, I can play it fluently. Somehow, it keeps me sane and relaxed. Since the whole toolbox incident, I've been home at 6.30PM and I have to devote 1 hour to play with it.

Hence, I feel in love with it and decided to get a slightly more expensive one. After much "investigating" on the web, I fell in love with the Overton. Irish Tinwhistles or Pennywhistles are fipple flutes which dates back to 1840 (England). The first ever pennywhistle was made by Robert Clarke (You can still find the brand Clarke now) and it comes in all sorts of keys (can be made to order with a particular tone by Colin Goldie/Overton)

The commonly played whistles are C and D. Personally, I prefer the D (and I have no idea how to read notes!) because Irish and Scottish music is played using it. It is simple to play but it's completely different from the recorder. I tend to practise on both just to be able to play 2 instruments.

Currently, I'm halfway through Amazing Grace. If I have the money, I would so custom order the Overton/Goldie but the cheapest costs around 154,70EURO (inc. of 19% VAT, exc. delivery) I had my eyes on a Feadóg but after many forums dissing it, I really don't know. Maybe I'm not as professional as them but hey, I play it for leisure! Youtube has tonnes of tutorials to help you as well! After Amazing Grace, my next song would be Annie's Song. Maybe my next buy would be a Classic Clarke. Read some pretty good reviews about it, plus it's affordable (15.99GBP/ 80MYR). If you're just like me, do give the Pennywhistle a try! It's easy and very entertaining. Will be able to upgrade to the flute in no time! I really pity my other neglected instruments! The 3 guitars and Ukulele. Will play with them once I've mastered the pennywhistle. Anyways, I've tried to solve the question of the superior choice between Nickel and brass. I came to a conclusion that it's a personal preference. The price difference is very small for the Feadóg range. (Brass= 5.50EURO, Nickel= 5.30EURO) For other brands however, brass is slightly more expensive but when you play it, the sweat on your fingers will slip and slide on the whistle while the nickel one is much more "stickier". I kinda prefer the nickel one but the only con is that, after frequent use, the "holes" will oxidise. For more interesting videos, you can YouTube James Galway. Pretty interesting guy, he even played for John Denver! ~you know musical me~ Michelle May xoox
